We believe cataloging is one of the most critical components to these projects and strongly feel it has to be done right the first time. The challenge most archives are faced with is that as materials are added to an archive over time, the method of cataloging or creating the data about your assets changes. Or different people have entered this information at the archive, each with their own unique style. The result is incomplete data, or data that requires reformatting to put into your new inventory tracking system. Since we are watching all the materials during the remastering or digitizing process, we can create and capture metadata for you about your content. This can even include services, like indexing the content to pull out key-frames, closed captioning, spoken words and on-screen text.
We believe it is critical to have people assist you with creating this metadata. While there are automated systems that can tell you information about your videos, a lot of this doesn’t have any real personal meaning. We can tell you what happened while watching the tape and describe in human terms what this means to you. Meaningful information that you can include for future reference is critical to any digital inventory.
