PPS Group announces new hire for Scene Savers archival division
Susi Niewahner joins firm as film archivist.
September 15, 2004 Cincinnati Ohio - Susi Niewahner has joined the downtown Cincinnati film/video production company PPS Group as Archivist in the newly formed Scene Savers archive division. She will be responsible for managing digital archiving operations for Kentucky Educational Television at the company’s Lexington, Kentucky office.
Ms. Niewahner received her Bachelor of Arts, from Bowling Green State University. At BGSU she received the Lillian Gish Memorial Scholarship for excellence in film studies, presented by Eva Marie Saint. Susi was also the recipient of the Sony Scholarship, through the Association of Moving Image Archivists, which she used to attend the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation, the most elite moving image preservation school in the world. While there, she was a contributor to The Film Preservation Guide, a guide for archives, libraries and museums from the National Film Preservation Foundation. Graduating at the top of her class, she was honored with the Haghefilm Laboratory Fellowship providing a unique experience of working in a film conservation laboratory, restoring a silent film from the George Eastman House Collection.
Her most recent assignment was at the Library of Congress where she spent four years working in the Motion Picture Conservation Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, in the nitrate vault.
