Scene Savers donates services to National Television and Video Preservation Foundation
Assists organizations with preserving wonderful film content
CINCINNATI, OH – September 2004 – Scene Savers, an archival services firm, has donated film to video transfer services to the initial grant cycle of the National Television and Video Preservation Foundation (NTVPF).
“We believe whole-heartedly in the mission of the NTVPF, and donating services not only allows us to showcase our talent, it enables us to help these organizations preserve and protect their television programs that may otherwise be lost. We understand the commitment it takes to get an organization running, especially in its early years,” offers John Walko, an archive specialist at Scene Savers, “so when the NTVPF approached us and asked if we would donate our services, we did not hesitate. We feel strongly that institutions who hold television programs and videotape as part of their archives need the assistance of organizations like the NTVPF, and we want to support such a foundation every step of the way.”
In talking with representatives of the NTVPF, Lisa Carter, Project Manager, had this to say: “Through donations of their time and services to the NTVPF, our sponsors have shown the depth of their concern for the preservation of our nation's heritage as recorded on television and video formats. With the support of these service providers, the NTVPF can ensure that important moving image materials which document our national history are available for future generations.”
Scene Savers’ initial donation will assist multiple archives with preserving and providing access to several television shows contained in their holdings. There is a chance that, without a donation, these archives would not have had the resources necessary to manage these films. Transferring these materials and creating access copies will allow the public to benefit from these wonderfully diverse programs, while allowing the archives to truly preserve the original films.
